A pretty lady once wrote on her Facebook wall “we throw the dice but Jah determines how they fall” and I believe Shatta Wale threw a bigger dice because the eye of the world, led by a stern anti racial discrimination community is gradually shifting onto him.
Yet again, the arts have been called upon to steer a worthy
cause and this time its called Dancers Against Racism, an online social media
movement by choreographers and dancers of different sects around the world
protesting against racial discrimination through dance and music (#DancersAgainstRacism). The project, which was started by Sara Galan and the DAR Galan crew from Sweden, has gone
absolutely viral on instagram, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and other social
media networks and Ghana’s own Shatta Wale’s song ‘you can’t touch me’ is being
used as the theme song by these dancers.
Another intriguing observation about this project,
especially the videos on Youtube is that, the dancers are learning some wild azonto
moves and performing it alongside Shatta’s song. It makes me think of artistes
like Psy, Drake, Justin Bieber and the likes who gained international
recognition through social media.
Shatta Wale might not be there yet, but this is a major
development in his career as a musician and we must applaud and support the
team. I suggest you watch the videos because new ones are being uploaded by the
minute and yea…. you can try some moves on the ‘you can’t touch me’ song, who
knows, you might become famous!
